hostess with the mostest - Fabulous Flora

hello all

I know its been so long but being an absolute sports nut - well I shall re-phrase that - I just love the Olympic Games - has meant I have not even pucked up duster for the last couple of weeks and only just now catching up on life after Rio!

Golly,  didn't Team GB do so,  so well! I loved every minute of it.

but... here I am now,  slowly easing myself back into inking up the odd stamp or two and my timing as such meant am just sneaking in at the last minute to join in with the lovely Kylie Berteucchi's International Stampin' Up!® Blog Highlight - where the theme this time round is Random Act of Kindness, Encouragement.

I knew exactly the sentiment I wanted to use for my card and thinking along the 'encouragement' line I used the 'You Grow Girl! sentiment  from the 'Greatest Greetings' stamp set..

and I coupled this with one of the lovely images from the Fabulous Flora Hostess stamp set  -  just one of the special Hostess only sets available with earnt stampin' rewards.  Three copies of the same image, and some toning colours in Flirty Flamingo, Watermelon Wonder and Calypso Coral, touches of green and brown and herewith  my colour palette!

and I indulged in a bit of watercolouring.. Using the world famous  'squishing' technique - very technical term that - to squeeze the stamp pad to transfer ink to the inside of the lid, for use when you need to paint/draw or similar...!

Hostess Fabulous Flora

A really quick card, but said exactly what I meant .. and its about to wing its way to a friend who is having a bit of a tough time of it at work at the moment..! so hope it gives her a bit of a lift!

Brand new - never seen before - 'Stampin' Up! Bonus Day Coupons to earn

hello all

well today's post is all about another special Stampin’ Up! promotion.
It's a truly  fabulous one for everyone !  and something they have never done before ...

Bonus Days Coupon

Whoo hooo - that's right - For every  £45 you spend,  from 7th until 31st July (before shipping and handling costs) you receive a £4.50 Bonus Days coupon to use between 2nd – 31st August.

How brilliant is that?  yes, with every  qualifying spend of £45 this month you’ll receive a nice bonus of a £4:50 coupon with which to treat yourself in August.

but just a few points to note though:
  • An email address is required to participate as the  Bonus Days coupon codes can only be delivered to you  via email and will be emailed to you after you place your July Order.  Make sure you enter a valid and correct email address.
  • Keep your coupons safe - Save your emails containing the Bonus Days coupon codes AND write down the coupon codes somewhere and keep them in a safe place - Your codes cannot be resent if you  lose your associated  email, as Stampin' Up! cannot recover lost codes.
  • There is no limit to the number of coupons you can receive per order or for over the duration of the promotion. There is no limit on the number of coupons you can use on an order during August to redeem them.
Why not use July as a chance to stock up on the essentials and basic supplies you need (card stock, adhesives, inks etc.) and in doing so,  you can then reward yourself in August by using the coupons you have earned, to buy something from your wish list..

a really great idea in my book...

and to the eagle eyed amongst you who might have noticed the lovely background to the advertisement photo above - yes it's one of the lovely sheets from the 'Serene Serenity' Designer series paper pack.

Serene Serenity

A really lovely set of 48   6 x 6" sheets, 4 each of 12 double-sided designs -
such an ideal size which works for truly stunning,  card fronts.!

well that's it from me - til next time and happy shopping!

Petite petals and colourQ birthday

hello all

well today's card is inspired by this lovely combination over at ColourQ this week..

and my take on using these colours was for a birthday card -  with  some old favourites in  Flower Shop and Petite Petals as the basis of my card.

Happy Birthday

My sentiment stamps were both from the Number of Years stamp set where I just used 2 repetitions of 'Happy' for emphasis and teamed it with Birthday - very apt in the circumstances!

I stepped it up a little in that I added an extra 2 layers to the middle flower and 1 each  for the other 2 flowers by stamping these onto scraps of card stock in those same colours and punching them out with the matching punches.

The green background accent was another stamp from the same 'Number of Years'  set, and the whole was finished off with a little bling and some edge sponging.

One very quickly put together card with just the effect I wanted.

Well it's into the 2nd week of Wimbledon and am there with my flask of coffee and a pile of sandwiches at the ready so I don't have to stray too far from the sofa if I can possibly avoid it - work permitting unfortunately!

but there's also another favourite of mine to catch up on - regular readers of my blog will know that sewing is also a great pastime of mine - and the final of the GBSB was on earlier tonight.!

I  am having my work cut out trying not to find out who won before I have a chance to watch it.!  - so shall be walking around with my eyes and ears closed - well not literally of course, but hopefully enough so as not  to  spoil the surprise and result,  before hand!

Well with that - wherever and whatever you find your self into this week - enjoy!
and very best wishes til next time

swirly bird greetings - take 2

hello all and happy Thurdsday

just stopped by to showcase another large format card for a friend's birthday today - and its 'Swirly Bird' time again - and with a bird as well, not just swirls!
this is just so versatile a set - to my mind you are guaranteed a great result however you choose to use it.

my card uses a number of the different elements in one of my favorite go to colour ways of the moment - Flirty Famingo - I just love the new in-colours and keep changng my mind on which one tops the list and today it's this one.!

I opted to couple it with Mint Macaron though as thought Emerald Envy was perhaps too strong a colour here.

Happy Birthday

Random die-cut swirls, some stamped leaves, vines and flowers - The little bird,  my Happy Birthday sentiment and beloved bits of bling all combine to make a happy card.

Hope she likes it..
